Does buprenorphine displace other opioids?

 Buprenorphine binds more tightly than other opioids at the mu opioid receptors. It will displace or block other opioids (such as heroin, oxycodone, morphine, hydromorphone, or methadone) at these receptors, but will exert only about 30%-40% of the mu-effect (pain relief or euphoria for example).

What is difference between buprenorphine and norbuprenorphine?

Buprenorphine is metabolized through N-dealkylation to norbuprenorphine through cytochrome P450 3A4. Both parent and metabolite then undergo glucuronidation. Norbuprenorphine is an active metabolite possessing one-fifth of the potency of its parent.

Can you get high on buprenorphine?

If you don't have a huge tolerance to stronger Opiates like Heroin, Hydromorphone or Fentanyl, Buprenorphine can get you really high. It's a very euphoric, very long-lasting (20 hours) high. If you have no tolerance, begin with less than 0,5mg, be careful, it's really strong!
